How many people do you know that have passed on in 2020?
2020 is the year where I have counted up to 10 people that have died; some were professional colleagues, some were people that I admire, and some were really close to home. The number of the death toll keeps rising and it’s depressing.
Truthfully, not all of them were directly linked to the Corona virus but if I am asked to pick one common thing in all of these deaths, I’ll still say it’s the virus.
Whilst some of us have been safe from getting the virus, the side effects of the virus have not eluded us. Whether it is from businesses being shut down for so long, or the unlikely recovery of some businesses, the loss of incomes and jobs, the hike in prices of essentials, COVID-19 found a way to affect us all.
At the beginning of the lock-down, running was more fun because I had lots of company from my family and other neighbors who either wanted to keep fit or just needed to get out of the house. I was in the last 3 weeks of my running program (even after repeating three different weeks to enable me run easier) It was fun, challenging and humbling. You know when you get back home and you stretch your feet up all day not because you worked hard for it but because the run whooped you!
At this time when the world is facing a pandemic, and the buzz words are furlough, salary cuts, termination, social distancing, crash in oil prices, stock market crash, loss of business income amongst other negative news, most of us are worried about the state of finances. This review comes at the right time to reassure us that we are worth more than birds to God and He will meet our needs if only we put our trust in Him and put Him first.
As we celebrate Easter especially in the most unusual of ways (indoors) due to the COVID-19 pandemic, It is a good time to reflect on why the celebration albeit a quiet one is important.
Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ from death some 2000 years ago. Jesus Christ is the core of Christianity – as the name implies. We celebrate his resurrection for different reasons; today I share my own personal reason(s) for identifying with Christ and celebrating Easter.
I remember some years back when a particular question haunted me. It followed me everywhere I went and showed up in everything I did. I was working hard, earning more but yet I didn’t feel fulfilled, so I needed to know the signs to look out for, I needed to be able to know what IT would mean on the inside before it became evident to others. I needed to know what the criteria was to be among them, I needed to know the milestones to work towards, I needed a vision for what it looked like so I would know when I achieved it, that was when my search began…
I needed to answer the question – WHAT DOES SUCCESS MEAN TO ME?
Still in the celebratory atmosphere of our 4th anniversary, meet our MOST SIGNIFICANT POST … and it’s not because I am a lady. 🙂
First published: April 4th, 2017.
I came across this book when I was on maternity leave with my first child, wondering if the workplace would still need me when I get back or if it was worth it to leave my bundle of joy for the hustle of work. It’s been 4 years since then and I am still growing strong in the workplace which may not have happened if I hadn’t read this book. It is for women who want to make impact and men who want to support that vision– Tosan A.
